We met online, which we're completely relaxed about telling people. Within approximately five minutes it was clear we had a very great deal in common — a shared love of history, travel, and a mutual willingness to spend an entire evening going down extraordinarily specific rabbit holes about things most people find baffling.
The last two years have been spent travelling extensively together, having a very large amount of fun, and rummaging through piles of medals and militaria. We've covered a lot of ground, argued about directions in several countries, eaten extremely well, and at no point found ourselves short of things to talk about.
Ed, it should be noted, is now entirely surrounded by women. Between his daughters, his granddaughters, Holly, and a resolutely female dog, he has accepted his fate with great dignity and only occasional mild protest.
We're absolutely delighted that you'll be joining us to make it official. We couldn't imagine a better crowd for the job.
